This 4-day safari to Lake Mburo National Park offers a relaxing and rewarding wildlife experience in one of Uganda’s most beautiful parks. Known for its rolling hills, acacia woodlands, and serene lakes, Lake Mburo is home to zebras, impalas, giraffes, buffaloes, and a variety of bird species. The park is also one of the best places for walking safaris and boat trips, offering a unique and intimate way to explore the African wilderness.
Depart Kampala in the morning and drive southwest through scenic countryside and rural communities. Stop at the equator for photos and a brief cultural experience before continuing to Lake Mburo National Park. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and relaxation.
In the late afternoon, head out for your first game drive in the park’s open plains. Look out for zebras, impalas, elands, warthogs, and buffaloes as they graze in the golden light. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, embark on a guided walking safari. This is one of the few parks in Uganda where walking safaris are permitted, giving you a chance to observe wildlife up close on foot. Encounter grazing zebras, antelopes, and birdlife, and learn about animal tracks and plants from your guide.
In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing boat cruise on Lake Mburo. The lake is home to hippos, crocodiles, and water birds such as fish eagles and kingfishers. Cruise along the shoreline, spotting wildlife that comes to drink at the water’s edge before returning to your lodge.
Start the day with a morning game drive, covering different areas of the park to increase your chances of spotting giraffes, hyenas, and the rare leopard. Lake Mburo's unique landscape of rolling hills and scattered lakes provides a stunning backdrop for your wildlife encounters.
Return to the lodge for lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure. You may opt to relax at the lodge, take a nature walk, or visit a nearby community for a cultural experience.
After a leisurely breakfast, begin your journey back to Kampala, enjoying the scenic countryside along the way. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant or at the equator before continuing to Kampala, where your safari concludes in the afternoon.
