Depart Kampala or Entebbe in the morning and head west towards Kibale National Park. The journey takes you through Uganda’s scenic countryside, with views of tea plantations, crater lakes, and rural villages. Arrive in the afternoon and check in at your lodge nestled on the edge of the forest. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or taking an optional visit to a nearby crater lake.
Today is the highlight of your safari. After an early breakfast, head into Kibale Forest for your chimpanzee trekking adventure. Accompanied by experienced guides and trackers, walk through the dense forest as you listen for chimp calls echoing through the trees. Once located, spend an unforgettable hour observing the chimps in their natural habitat—watching them feed, groom, and interact.
In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation project. This wetland is rich in birdlife, butterflies, and other primates like red colobus and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Return to the lodge for a relaxed evening.
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe. Along the way, enjoy the beautiful landscapes and stop at craft shops or markets for souvenirs. Arrive in the late afternoon, marking the end of your chimpanzee safari.
